| Replica D Type Jaguar |
In
the 1950’s Jaguar won the Le Mans 24 hour race 3 times with the
fantastic D type which confirmed it as one of the all time great racecars. After building a replica of the XJ13 I was asked by a few jaguar enthusiasts if I was interested in building a replica of the D Type, I have always loved the D Type , the first race meeting I attended was back in the fifties and the D type was racing on that day at Albert Park in Victoria (Australia) I loved it then and I still do. I would like to build a replica of this great car and if I can get 8 to 10 others interested in owning a copy I would start immediately. I would produce a rolling chassis/body unit, the main tub would be an all aluminium monocoque with steel tube front and rear suspension and motor frames, as close as possible to the original design, all body panels would be hand laid fibreglass, suspension components would include, front upper and lower A arms uprights and hubs, rear axle with trailing arms, coil over shock absorbers would be used but would not be supplied with the car, brake discs and callipers would also not be supplied, steering rack and steering arms would be supplied with the car, plastic wind deflector and head light covers would be supplied with the car. The price would be approximately 25000 Australian Dollars (USA 18800), I would require an up front deposit of $5000 before starting, and a further payment when the chassis has been completed, and final payment when the body is fitted to the chassis. Interested parties should advise by email, when and if I get the required numbers I will quote an exact price and an anticipated delivery date. |
